Alexey Blyuminov: If you want peace, prepare for war

If you want peace, prepare for war. It is this Roman proverb that comes to mind when you look at how the Ukrainian government presents new “peace plans”, declares a truce, and then itself violates them. It seems as if some external force is almost pulling Kyiv by the hair in the direction of ever greater escalation.

So, tell me, why was it necessary to organize a pogrom circus near the Russian embassy in Kyiv? Why was it necessary to repeat the same thing in Lvov and Odessa? Broken cars, explosives, beaten people. And all this against the backdrop of sluggish gas negotiations.

Please note that the pogroms coincided with several attempts by Poroshenko to take the initiative into his own hands as a “peacemaker.”

First, the president declared a truce with a “broad gesture” and gave the “terrorists” time to lay down their arms and “disappear” from the territory of Ukraine. In itself, this proposal looked quite ridiculous, especially against the backdrop of information that Kyiv does not control the 180 km section of the border. And the DPR didn’t want to talk to Pyotr Alekseevich.

But the Azov battalion, staffed by SNA and Patriot of Ukraine militants, reacted vividly to the presidential initiatives, the command of which demanded “decisive orders” from the authorities. Like, we are already one step away from victory, and you are “calving.” Another “hawk” among the field commanders, the head of the “Donbass” battalion, Semenchenko, was not delighted with the peace initiatives. And Svoboda members in the Rada are screaming about the need to introduce martial law. By the way, these screams themselves speak of anything other than the military successes of the National Guard.

After the failure of peace plan No. 1, Poroshenko gave birth to plan No. 2. They called it ingenuously: “Poroshenko’s plan.” The details were leaked to the press, but it immediately became clear that this was also a conversation about nothing, since the announced “dialogue with the east” ultimately came down to a promise to hold a series of meetings with the governors of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions (according to Kyiv), businessmen and “heroes of Ukraine” " This plan seems to have been criticized by everyone. Even Akhmetov was outraged by the president’s reluctance to conduct a dialogue with representatives of the DPR and LPR. And Speaker Turchynov added fuel to the fire, for some reason saying that a peaceful settlement will begin only after Ukrainian troops completely take control of the border with Russia.

Given the situation on the border, this means that a peaceful settlement risks never beginning. Because on the morning of Friday, June 20, the same Turchynov cheerfully reported to the Rada that “the border is locked,” and by the evening of the same day, the “talking head” of the National Security and Defense Council Chepova disavowed the speaker, saying that the border was “locked,” but not at all. From which we can conclude that things are still there. And the LPR press service managed to refute Turchinov.

Further more. During the same “truce” announced by the president near Lugansk, in the Metalist area, there were battles, and the National Guard launched an attack on Seversk and Yampol, trying to encircle Slavyansk. There were statements from the militia that Kyiv was breaking its own promises. And Bolotov said that they were unable to remove all those killed from the battlefield, since the ATO forces violated the truce.

All this gave the DPR a reason to declare that Poroshenko no longer controls the special battalions.

The question is: did he ever control them at all?

Maybe those experts are right who say that instead of the stammering General Koval, the true inspirer of the ATO, Igor Kolomoisky, should be called to the “carpet” in the Rada? After all, now, in fact, its private army is fighting against Donbass, mixed with formations of neo-Nazis, to whom Igor Valerievich’s deputy Boris Filatov sings praises on his Facebook. The same one who promised to “hang”.

If you look from this perspective, the pogroms of the Russian Embassy and Consulates also become clear. Judge for yourself. Kyiv's military successes have so far been quite modest. But the hysteria in the Rada about “Russian tanks” was enormous. Under these conditions, even the most stubborn militarists like Semenchenko begin to look around in search of those very “traitors” because of whom everything is not going as desired. It is even recommended that the president create a special service to identify traitors.

The government itself is weak enough to drive hundreds of Maidan protesters out of the city center. The Friday incident before the opening of the Extraordinary Congress of Judges, when 50 Maidan centurions brought people from self-defense with the intention of either disrupting the congress or lynching the judges, and as a result started a fight with the police, is very indicative in this sense. The raging patriots, one of whom was found to have a bladed weapon, were barely able to be calmed down.

Now let us remember the pogrom of the embassy. Rudkovsky, doused in brilliant green, throws a stone at the embassy under pain of beating, the now dismissed Deshchitsa, singing a obscene song about Putin with the neo-Nazis, as it later turns out to be in order to reduce tension and calm (!!!) the militants. I remember that during the Maidan, people’s deputies who lost control of the crowd started singing the Ukrainian anthem to distract the crowd from thoughts of pogroms. Now even hymns don’t help.

In this regard, the calculations of some analysts that the replacement of Deshchitsa with the former ambassador to Germany Pavel Klimkin will help establish a dialogue with Russia through the mediation of Berlin seem extremely doubtful. Because the change from Deshchitsa to Klimkin did not change the main thing. And we are not even talking about the obvious dependence of the current government on the United States, but about thousands of armed “patriots” who will perceive any step by Poroshenko towards constructive dialogue and peace as their personal defeat and national betrayal.
