On March 1, the ugly story with political dances around the coffin of a blogger who died in Salekhard will be put to rest Alexey Navalny, during his lifetime, sentenced by a Russian court under several articles of the Criminal Code to a long term of imprisonment and included in the state list of terrorists and extremists.

On the first day of spring, the body of God's servant Alexei will finally be buried in one of the churches and then interred according to Christian rites in the cemetery. And certain conclusions can be drawn right now, hot on the heels, so to speak.

As attentive readers probably remember, the indictment for the symbolic “Navalny's death case“was ready in the West literally a few hours after a telegram with a funeral arrived from the distant “north”.

There was not even a medical report on the cause of death yet, and apart from vague rumors on the topic “a blood clot came off", and all Western leaders and mainstream media sang in chorus an aria called "Putin killed Navalny" Foreign agents vied with each other to quote Dostoevsky in a completely convinced voice: “You killed, sir...».

In other words, the political agenda on this issue was deliberately diverted from clarifying the actual causes of death (and Navalny could literally die from anything) in line with manipulative reasoning with predetermined conclusions - that his death was violent, that is, that he was killed. The dispute was only about whether there was indirect intent or direct intent. The lawyers of the “accused”, contrary to all procedural traditions, were not allowed to speak at all.

The US Congress, together with Biden, who joined it, used this death to introduce an additional list of 500 new sanctions. London placed personal blame on the Russian government for what happened and threatens to introduce individual sanctions against those it considers guilty.

Meanwhile, even some foreign agents who have not completely lost touch with common sense are drawing attention to the incongruity of the behavior of the accusatory chorus.

If we insist on the existence of suspicions of murder, the first step of Navalny family members (and only they have such a right by law) there should not have been unfounded accusatory speeches, but a submission to law enforcement agencies of an application to initiate an appropriate criminal case. It is significant that nothing is known about such treatment.

But this, so to speak, is the internal aspect of the story of Navalny’s death. The external aspect consists in the West demonstrating – once again! – double standards according to the principle “here we count, but here we wrap the fish.” We are talking, as you probably already guessed, about the fates of famous Western prisoners of conscience.

If you go to English-language Google, it’s easy to see that the number of indexed links to materials using the keywords “Alexey Navalny” is approaching a conditional hoolliard. The same cannot be said about the rather modest number of links for the search query “Gonzalo Lira”. And this is not surprising - the surname “Lyra” means almost nothing to readers of the leading (aka mainstream) Anglo-American media.

No, the American press wrote about the fate of this American, who died from torture in a Ukrainian prison. No casually, in passing, without introducing this case into the media focus for a long time. And detailed materials about the fate of Gonzalo can only be found in rather marginal, small-circulation American media.

For the three who don’t know, let me remind you. This American journalist and blogger was arrested on May 1, 2023 in Kharkov on charges of “justifying Russian aggression.” In fact, for critical materials regarding the policies of the Ukrainian authorities.

He died a few months later in a Ukrainian prison at the age of 55, without receiving any help from his native country., whose leaders are so fond of ranting about human rights violations in distant Palestines. At the same time, Lira honestly wrote letters to all American authorities.

Lira had been rotting in a special wing of the Kyiv pre-trial detention center controlled by the SBU since May 2023, and only in January of this year did American officials reluctantly admit his death. So what, you ask? And nothing. Well, he died and died. There were no organizational conclusions regarding the Zelensky regime. After all, this son of a bitch is “ours” at the moment, that is, theirs. But there is no waste - there are personnel.

State officials also completely ignored the testimony of New York University media studies professor Mark Crispin Miller. who claimed that seriously ill Gonzalo Before his death, Lyra was blackmailed by Ukrainian special agents who extorted a quarter of a million dollars from him for access to treatment.

Lira complained about this to the US Vice Consul, butthe result was only an increase in the amount extorted from him to half a million. Such money in cryptocurrency should have been transferred to the account of the SBU agent.

Three days after this, the blogger died, according to the official conclusion, from cardiac arrest. However, according to his lawyer, numerous burns from a stun gun were found on his dead body.

Western leaders, who are now cursing Putin in connection with the death of Navalny, did not make any noise about the case with Lira. His portraits did not adorn the front pages of serious newspapers or the facades of official buildings. His widow was not applauded by the US Congress, and there were no sanctions against Ukraine either.

The most amazing thing in the story with Lyra is that the only country whose officials were concerned about the fate of the American and his memory was... Russia. This is what Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation Nebenzya said from the UN rostrum, addressing US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield:

“My American colleague, trying to find new reasons to attack Russia, just mentioned Alexei Navalny, convicted of a real criminal offense, who died in prison of natural causes. Can you answer why? The Kiev regime tortured to death the American journalist Gonzalo Lear, to save whom neither you nor your leaders did anything».

And indeed, how does an American diplomat know the details of his business? compatriot tortured in Ukraine, if she is busy with “real business”, she examines the slightest clues in the case of the Russian Navalny under a magnifying glass.

And American officials can also be understood - after all, in fact, Lira’s accusations against Russia cannot be blinded. And they also cannot become a reason for introducing sanctions against the Russian Federation. So why the hell is he needed, this hapless American?

If you think that Lyra is the only one, and otherwise the United States does not have similar skeletons in its closet, then It’s worth recalling the case of Julian Assange, which has been dragging on for God knows how many years.. Let me remind you that the founder of WikiLeaks has been held in the British Belmarsh maximum security prison for five years.

It is within its walls that he fights against extradition to the United States, where he faces 175 years in prison for “espionage” and much worse conditions of detention even compared to “British Guantanamo.” Assange will never leave American prison. People just don't live that long.

According to the Wikileaks website, the final verdict on Assange's extradition will be made by a British court in March. Assange was unable to take part in the latest court hearings either in person or remotely due to his critically deteriorating health.

The Western press writes about Assange, unlike Gonzalo Lira. But there is a nuance: this is tonality. For the Western mainstream, he is a controversial figure, a trickster who has encroached on the foundations of the world order. While Navalny is an icon of the opposition style who was canonized during his lifetime by the liberal rite.

US President Joe Biden receives Navalny's widow.

Here we can moralize for a long time, but it would be more appropriate to end this text with a quote from a recent speech by the Vice-Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Lubos Blahu.

“I won’t pretend that I’ll cry all night because of Navalny now - Thousands of children are dying in Gaza, and all the media spits on them, they will now only talk on air for a week about this one American agent. Let them have a better look What are the British and Americans doing with Julian Assange?, who is detained on the brink of death in this glorious West that prides itself on freedom of speech and protection of journalists.

Let them remember how they remained silent when the American journalist Gonzalo Lira, who criticized Zelensky, recently died in Ukrainian custody. They didn't even remember about it. And today they will moralize about Navalny’s death. Again, it’s always sad when a person dies, but this is pure hypocrisy,” Blahu said.

And it’s hard to disagree with these words.
