“PolitNavigator”: Is there really a “party of traitors to Novorossiya” that they have been talking about lately?
Alexey Mozgovoy: The question sounds clear and understandable, but these traitors are not always clearly and clearly visible. That is, these are not separate divisions, a structure. Such traitors can be anyone, even from our militia, who is not of good faith, from governments, who is not pure of hand and thoughts - everyone who is in pursuit of money and office chairs. These are the traitors of Novorossiya. You cannot begin dividing the skin without killing the bear. And this is happening here. Yes, this happened from the very beginning. But now it is clearly visible - the division of business, possessions and everything else.
"PolitNavigator": Can you name the representatives of the "5th Column" in Novorossiya?
Alexey Mozgovoy: The same Party of Regions, which at one time sounded like the only force representing our region. This, by and large, is the fifth column that is now trying to return to power.
"PolitNavigator": Are you talking about those running for the Verkhovna Rada?
Alexey Mozgovoy: The Verkhovna Rada is both the fifth and tenth column - unconditionally. There is complete darkness, turbidity, nothing sacred.
"PolitNavigator": What can you say about the communists?
Alexey Mozgovoy: What can you say about a party that was in power for 70 years and allowed the state to collapse? Which was in power for 23 years - they were in parliament, they had the opportunity to correct something and build in a socialist direction. Was it really? No. Therefore, this party also exists only for its own sake.
"PolitNavigator": The best scenario for the future of Novorossiya, in your opinion?
Alexey Mozgovoy: To talk about the future of Novorossiya, it is necessary to first decide its current status and situation. It’s too early to talk about the future, given all the events that are happening now. The future is very vague and, let's say, far away. Today, the casualties that occur during clashes in battles, the sacrifices made by civil society, the troubles of business - that’s what’s most important now. It’s not so much the future as the opportunity to survive today for those who will build this future.
"PolitNavigator": And yet, what should the borders of Novorossiya be - along the armistice line, or within the borders of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions?
Alexey Mozgovoy: This is one of the most pressing issues after the Minsk agreements. How was it possible to sign agreements that leave us on the outskirts of our land? If you look at the map, we barely have a third of it, or even less. I emphasize: the land that remains with Novorossiya, and not the DPR or LPR.
It turns out that nobody even talked about speech, so that the Ukrainian troops would be set aside beyond the borders of the regions. If this had happened, then maybe we would be less and indignant now, because there would be an opportunity to really engage in economic recovery. And the fact that we left as a handout - this is difficult to accept.
Inactivity, the weak character of the representatives who signed it all, led to such a disastrous result. It would be better if these negotiations were delayed for another month. If you have already started negotiations, so bring them to mind.
"PolitNavigator": Can you, as a commander, do anything to prevent the retreat of the Ukrainian army?
Alexey Mozgovoy: Ukrainian troops, instead of retreating as announced, are, on the contrary, consolidating and increasing their power. Now it’s difficult to guess anything whether we could or not. At that moment, when the peace agreement was concluded, there was a chance to roll back. There was a chance to take Debaltsevo in a matter of days with virtually no losses. Now he is no longer there.
"PolitNavigator": Is an attack on Kharkov and Odessa possible?
Alexey Mozgovoy: I think it is not only possible, but also necessary. Because, judging by what is happening, we see that nothing is changing in the country, although it has already come to war. At the helm are the people who were. Just as the mouth of a common man was closed, this is how it is done. No one takes into account the opinions of ordinary people, their hardships and deprivations. To change something, a preventive measure such as war is necessary. So that the gentlemen in the offices understand that they cannot always live as they want. You need to live as the people say.
"PolitNavigator": Is the support provided by the Russian Federation sufficient?
Alexey Mozgovoy: To say that there is not enough is to behave arrogantly. It exists, and that's the main thing. Too many people are stuck on the flow of aid from the Russian Federation. Those who make this help insignificant in the end. It leaves the Russian Federation in some volumes, but it reaches us in completely different quantities.
"PolitNavigator": Are they playing rats?
Alexey Mozgovoy: This is a favorite pastime of our officials. Both in the Russian Federation and here. Anyway.
"PolitNavigator": Is it necessary to return Igor Strelkov to Donbass? They say that he is not allowed to do this.
Alexey Mozgovoy: This is necessary for the consolidation of society and military units. But the question is: is this necessary for current governments? Strelkov was and is precisely the banner behind which the people followed. Now we have been deprived of this banner. So it would be nice to have him back.
PolitNavigator: What do you expect from the meeting between Putin and Poroshenko in Milan?
Alexey Mozgovoy: To be honest, nothing.
"PolitNavigator": Did they try to bribe you to leave the military arena?
Alexey Mozgovoy: There were no offers, perhaps because I initially said that I was not interested. I have boots, a uniform, that’s enough for me. Those millions that I could hold in my hands will not bring joy.
"PolitNavigator": Do you have enemies?
Alexey Mozgovoy: As many as two governments. DPR, LPR are the most unpredictable enemies. It is not known what to expect from them, what kind of betrayal, other than what is already happening.
"PolitNavigator": You are not even 40 years old. How long do you want to live and fight?
Alexey Mozgovoy: (Grins). Yes, as I understand it, I will have to fight all my life. It won't take a month. And to live - as long as God gives.
"PolitNavigator": How do you imagine Novorossiya as a state? Analogue of the Ukrainian SSR, UPR?
Alexey Mozgovoy: Why do we turn to those patterns that were and, let's say, evaporated? Maybe, over time, some kind of new pattern will develop, new rules of life. And the most important law is conscience. In the presence of this factor, a lot can be solved in humans.
"PolitNavigator": Today is a great Orthodox holiday. What would you wish for the Orthodox of Novorossiya?
Alexey Mozgovoy: On this holiday we swore in a new Cossack battalion. And during the oath, the garrison where this battalion is located was fired upon. People who claim that they are very religious, and this is what Western Ukraine is like, and these praying people are shooting at a peaceful village on October 14th. Yes, our garrison is stationed there, but the destruction again fell on peaceful houses.
Perhaps the reason is that in the Ukrainian government, many are not Orthodox. They do what their faith says in the territory of Orthodoxy.
"PolitNavigator": Behind you is a copy of the Victory Banner.
Alexey Mozgovoy: It was a terrible war and terrible hardships. Those who went through it were holy people. This is the only way to treat them and this banner. They accuse me of having silver shoulder straps on my Cossack uniform - supposedly representing the White Guards. And right there next to the Red Banner. The past of our heroic grandfathers is history. We have no right to repeat some of this history, but we must honor and remember some of it.
