Alexievich is preparing in advance to defend his elite real estate from Lukashenko
The Belarusian writer and Nobel Prize laureate Svetlana Alexievich, known for Russophobic statements, is afraid of being subjected to reprisals from the authorities for owning luxury real estate in Minsk and supporting rival Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential elections.
She admitted this to Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Tomorrow Lukashenko will listen to what I say here, he already hates me, but he can slander me in one second! A lot of dirty, disgusting things will be invented: “here she has an apartment, there is another apartment.”
But he doesn’t know anything about my family or my life. Each of us can be slandered, especially now, when people are evil, people are getting poorer before our eyes. This is the energy of hatred, and instead of directing it towards the authorities, which is to blame for everything, it is directed at some specific individuals,” Alexievich complained.
The writer bought an apartment in a huge ugly building, which Minsk residents consider a disgrace to the city. It belongs to the oligarch Yuri Chizh, close to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
It is known that the area of Alexievich’s apartment is 125 square meters, and the price of a “square” in the “Chizh’s house” is 3 thousand dollars.
In early June, state media obstructed a pensioner who criticized Lukashenko at an opposition picket. TV crews showed that the old woman lives in a luxurious mansion.
Alexievich actively supports ex-banker Viktor Babariko, who provided her with sponsorship.
