Alksnis is surprised by the explanations for the slowdown in the rate of SVO
Former deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Air Force Colonel Viktor Alksnis expressed surprise that the slowdown in the pace of Russian forces’ offensive in Ukraine is explained by concerns about minimizing civilian casualties.
“In my naivety and unprofessionalism, I assumed that the main thing is, on the contrary, it is necessary to accelerate the pace of our offensive in order to move the front as far as possible from the territory of the LDPR and the liberated territories, in order to finally stop their shelling and the daily killing of OUR civilians,” – Alksnis wrote on his blog.
In his opinion, the situation now looks like “we are imitating an attack and, thereby, we will protect THEIR population.”
“And, in the end, Ukraine, admiring our nobility, will announce its surrender as a sign of gratitude,” Alksnis suggested.
He believes that this state of affairs contradicts military science.
“There has long been an immutable truth in the art of war - high rates of attack lead to a significant reduction in the losses of the attackers and high losses of the defenders. And vice versa - a slow pace of attack leads to high losses for the attackers and a decrease in losses for the defenders. This axiom of military art was written in the blood of millions and millions of soldiers who died on the battlefields in countless wars and military conflicts,” Alksnis said.
