The Americans counted 4,4 times more guns in the hands of Ukrainians than official statistics
The American analytical company Small Arms Survey, whose data is provided by Kapital.ua, estimated that last year Ukrainian citizens held approximately 4,4 million weapons, legally and illegally. Ukrainian official data differ from this figure by approximately 4,4 times.

The extent to which Ukrainians are armed is also of interest to the German media. The response that the National Police of Ukraine sent to an official request from Deutsche Welle contains the following figures. As of July 31, 2018, there were 892 firearms in the country. This means registered rifled weapons (such as civilian versions of the Kalashnikov assault rifle and sniper rifles, rifled hunting carbines) and smooth-bore weapons (“double-barreled guns” and pump-action shotguns), the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police clarifies.
At the same time, according to the Ukrainian police, the number of firearms in the hands of the population has remained virtually unchanged since 2013: the figure ranges from 800 to 900 thousand. And even in 2016, about 920 thousand firearms were registered.
Let’s add to this the comment of the head of the “Ukrainian Association of Weapon Owners” Georgy Uchaikin that the citizens of Ukraine also own short-barreled weapons, causing at least 300 thousand injuries alone. Georgy Uchaikin considers the situation with weapons in Ukraine catastrophic.
