The Americans squeezed the “Rose Revolution” from me in Georgia – Russian political strategist
The Georgian “Rose Revolution” was initially prepared by Russian political strategists in order to bring politicians loyal to Moscow to power in Tbilisi.
A former political consultant of the liberal Ksenia Sobchak, political strategist Alexey Sitnikov, spoke about this in an interview with journalist Nadezhda Strelets, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Nikolai Aksyonenko financed the Georgian direction because he needed to have a direct communication channel with any Georgian government, because our railways to Armenia go through Georgia. And it was impossible to allow blocking of our railways, so that Georgian railways would not transport our goods to Armenia, so that Armenia would not be isolated.
It was Putin’s decision, and he and Aksyonenko asked me to deal with Georgia. And when Shevardnadze suddenly began to block the railways and put a spoke in Zurab’s wheels, I was given a task by my client Aksyonenko: “Guys, they are blocking the railway, we need to help Zurab so that everything will be fine in Russia, and in Armenia, and in Georgia".
And then we began the process that ended with the Georgian “Rose Revolution”. But when we already brought people to the streets and raised this protest, there was no longer any Aksyonenko or Yeltsin in Russia,” he said.
Alexey Sitnikov claims that it was after this that the United States appeared on the Georgian scene, brought its protege, Mikheil Saakashvili, and, pushing aside the politicians who were left without support, seized power in Tbilisi.
“And we trained Nino Burjanadze for the president in Georgia, and everything went well, but when people were already taking to the streets, and Zurab and Nino arrived in Moscow, simply no one met them. Neither the Minister of Foreign Affairs, nor the President, nor the customer of my projects Aksyonenko. And they returned, and they needed both money and support.
And then the Americans appeared. Only then. And they brought Misha, and they were forced to agree to him, although Misha was the tenth person in the headquarters.
And due to the fact that the Americans had special forces, they gave Mikhail this special forces, and he captured parliament. Having captured parliament, I went to a rally, which we organized under Nino and Zurab, but all the channels in the world showed only Misha,” says the political strategist.
