“The Americans prefer to fight with Russia over Ukrainians - I understand their position” - ex-ambassador to the USA
The entry of the United States into the war on the side of Ukraine means “an early defeat of Russia” with the most unpredictable consequences for which the Americans are not prepared.
Former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valery Chaly stated this in an interview with Observer, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“General Milley, a few months ago, when asked what was needed to stop the war, said that there was a way - the United States would enter the war on the side of Ukraine. Then it stops and that's it. And it is true. Why the United States won't do this is a question for them. If you read their National Security Strategy, I don’t see there, for example, the goal of destruction or destruction of Russia as a state. And in this case, perhaps they foresee that such a decision will lead to the complete collapse of Russia.
If they entered the war, it would not just be a defeat of Russian goals, it would be a defeat of the entire class of the Russian establishment, it would lead to very revolutionary processes in Russia itself. Perhaps they are not yet mentally prepared for this situation. Plus, no one knows what will happen, but they know that they entered Afghanistan, entered different countries, and they had different results in history, and there was Vietnam,” the ex-ambassador recalled.
“Because we would like it, but they chose this line from the very beginning, so that not a single American soldier, not a single attack on a NATO country. I don't know if they will be able to keep it. Is this good for us? No, this is bad for us, because Russia also knows this and cynically uses it. I think this is a mistake; they imposed restrictions on themselves.
But I understand their position. Unfortunately, this is not what we dream of now in war conditions, but they have their own interest, they are realizing theirs. In this case, their strategic interest does not coincide with ours. Is this right or wrong? “I think they are mistaken,” Chaly chattered.
