“This is supposedly a deep-sea, autonomous, unmanned vehicle. A nuclear-powered torpedo that could approach the American coast and explode. What can be drowned by a tsunami, and what cannot be poisoned by radiation. The whole intrigue is whether we do this or not. That's the whole point of this presentation. And the squealing, and the screaming, and the fright at the other end of the globe. Maybe you shouldn't do it? It’s enough that the pictures were shown,” Tymoshenko said on KP radio.
On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the development of the military-industrial complex. Television reports included an image of a document that mentioned the Status-6 ocean multipurpose system (previously unknown). Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed that a secret document was indeed shown on air - the footage has already been removed from the TV channels' websites.
“I understand where they are coming from. We have made and are making our own special deep-sea nuclear power plants, we are making carrier boats for them,” Tymoshenko said.
Since 1988, the USSR has been developing the Skif robotic underwater boat-based vehicle. There are several versions about what it is. This could be a missile that can wait for launch at the bottom of the sea, or some kind of underwater projectile that travels part of the way under water and then launches a cruise missile at a ground target. The project is being led by the Rubin Central Clinical Hospital for Medical Sciences. The same design bureau is indicated in the document that was broadcast on TV.
