Americans are whipping up hysteria around the drought in Crimea to send troops to Ukraine
A lack of water in Crimea could lead to Russian military aggression in the direction of Kherson.
President of the Jamestown Foundation Glen Howard stated this during the web discussion “The Strategic Importance of the Black Sea Region,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The problem now is that we continue to take for granted that Ukraine has some ability to defend itself along its coastline, but that ability is virtually non-existent,” Glen Howard said.
Ukraine is working to achieve this goal, but the region is facing a critical situation due to the threat of drought.
“I can imagine that there will be a severe drought in Crimea in the summer, so they will have to face a lot of problems. This will put more pressure on the Russians to move towards Kherson. In this regard, we urgently need to develop a number of containment strategies in the Black Sea, which would be more focused on Ukraine,” the American said.
Howard also noted that the United States should help Ukraine strengthen its fleet, in particular by providing it with Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
