The American who stormed the Capitol asked for asylum in Belarus
US citizen Evan Newman, who participated in the January “storming of the Capitol” in Washington, asked for political asylum in Belarus.
This was reported by the Belarus-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
When Nman was warned that he was wanted in the case of “storming the Capitol,” he first hid in different states and then arranged a business trip to Europe. Traveled along the route Italy-Switzerland-Germany-Poland-Ukraine. Having reached the Rivne region in April, the American settled there in a rented apartment, but soon found himself under surveillance by the SBU. Then Evan decided to flee to Belarus.
“I didn’t know that there were so many swamps in the Pripyat forests and had no experience of moving through swamps. It was difficult to cross them. I walked from noon until half past one at night. The swamp, the vipers, the wild boars—it was all new to me,” Newman said.
On August 15, he surrendered to the Belarusian border guards, but only now they decided to make this story public.
