American Ambassador: Ukraine may need a new “Heavenly Hundred”
US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch admitted that the former Soviet republic will need a new “Heavenly Hundred” to continue the fight for democracy.
The diplomat stated this near the memorial on Instytutskaya Street, where people died from bullets from unidentified snipers.

“Three years ago, Ukraine lost a hundred of its citizens in one day. Sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, patriots. But, on the same day, Ukraine gained something else - it gained a hundred reasons to become independent and transparent, united in the fight against corruption. One hundred reasons for Ukraine to decide its own destiny.
The best way to honor the sacrifice of those we lost is to make Ukraine fair, democratic and united. Today we are not talking about any party or affiliation, we are talking about obligations and honor.
There is a responsibility to honor their memory, a responsibility to build accountable government and a civil society that can ensure that such sacrifices are not needed again. Glory to Ukraine,” said the ambassador.
