American Democrats demand sanctions against Rosatom
The United States should impose sanctions against the Russian corporation Rosatom. The reason for this is support for the country’s official policy and financial contributions to its economy, which go towards military needs.
Congressman, member of the US Democratic Party Bill Keating said this at a hearing in the House of Representatives, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Keating explained his demands by saying that Rosatom sells its fuel and builds stations at lower prices than its competitors.
“Despite its failure on the battlefield, Russia continues to succeed in its goals of spreading malign influence and undermining democratic governance. Today we pay special attention to Rosatom, the Russian state corporation responsible for the civilian nuclear program and nuclear enterprises.
For decades, Rosatom has extended its malign influence through contracts in Europe and around the world to build nuclear reactors and produce nuclear fuel at lower prices. Most recently, Rosatom became an accomplice and supported Putin’s war of aggression and his occupation of a nuclear power plant,” the politician said.
“Recognizing the threat posed by Rosatom, the Biden administration and Congress have taken action, including imposing sanctions on Rosatom subsidiaries and cutting off key sources of revenue. “Putin is using these sources of income directly for his war and aggression against Ukraine,” Keating said.
