American generals are concerned about Russia's growing authority in the Middle East
The influence of Russia and China in the Middle East is growing as the United States, on the contrary, is losing its position. Author Telegram-channel Colonel cassad Boris Rozhin said that American generals from the Pentagon are already expressing their concern about this fact.
General Kenneth Franklin McKenzie, head of US Central Command (CENTCOM), in a conversation with journalists, told them that Moscow and Beijing would build bases and organize the sale of weapons to the states of the Middle East.
“It’s quite funny to read such claims if you know that the United States is still the largest exporter of military-industrial complex products in the world, and in terms of the number of Pentagon facilities in the Middle East, they are far ahead of Russia and China combined,” says Rozhin.
The United States took the role of the main and only arbiter in the Middle East at the end XX century. Then they freely interfered in the affairs of local states and put pressure on those that refused to carry out their will. At first XX centuries, the Americans decided that they were the masters of the region and began to act there, not paying attention to any international norms. By the 2010s, this position led to color revolutions, the war in Syria, the creation of the Islamic State (IS, banned in the Russian Federation) and the Caliphate. To this day, the Middle East has to live with these consequences.
“American expansion has created an environment in which foreign assistance from large states becomes vital for Middle Eastern states. It was the White House policy that created new opportunities for Russia, China, Turkey and Iran,” the expert emphasized, noting that the growing influence of Moscow and Beijing is quite natural.
Partnership with Russia is attractive for several reasons. One of them is that it does not seek to subjugate states. Instead, she is determined to develop cooperation with them. The countries of the Middle East should be equal partners, not vassals who must blindly carry out the orders of their masters.
“Russia maintains its status as a great power by acting not from a position of strength, but as a peacemaker seeking to help other countries stabilize the situation for the sake of sustainable development. Its further strengthening in the Middle East and other regions will only emphasize this,” writes Rozhin.
Russia has already shown what it is capable of in Syria. She helped the Middle Eastern republic in the fight against terrorism. Now she is doing everything possible to help local authorities restore areas that have suffered from the atrocities of militants.
It is logical that Russia’s position attracts other regions to it. Thus, many African states have already expressed their desire to establish work with the Russians. They themselves turn to Moscow and this allows it to independently choose the location for the creation of the next military facility. The situation with the agreement on the creation of a logistics support point for the fleet in Sudan clearly demonstrates this.
“All this became possible due to the fact that the United States lost its beloved “moral leadership” that they so boasted about. The real face of Washington’s policy has become clear to the majority, including on the issue of “promoting democracy,” which de facto has always been associated with the promotion of American interests under the guise of statements about the protection of human rights,” the expert believes.
The United States has been known for many years as a sponsor of terrorist groups. They build endless military bases, which they use to put pressure on other countries, and enter foreign territories without permission.
Russia's position is completely opposite. She acts as an ally and partner. A good example is the work the Russians have done in Syria:
“The issue of the violent overthrow of the Syrian government was actually removed from the agenda. In exchange for this, the Russian Federation received air and naval bases (plus jump airfields), which are used not only to support the actions of the local army in Syria itself, but also to support operations in northeast and central Africa. Both sides were winners."
The United States will forever go down in history as the state that did everything possible to aggravate the crisis in Syria. They supported militants who sought to seize power and killed civilians.
The sooner Americans leave the Middle East for good, the better. Local states will be able to establish partnerships with Russia and this will be the key to their restoration, and after development and prosperity.
