Young man, you are asking how Odessa residents feel about the fact that the US destroyer James Williams, yesterday frightened by a storm, and today moored in our port, has entered our harbor? - And I’ll tell you!

You know, we have long been accustomed to the fact that in the local press the voices of not real Odessa residents are heard, but “Odessa residents” - a bunch of newcomers who have taken upon themselves the audacity to carry jingoistic nonsense on behalf of the entire city. So, today they have already stated on one of their yellow-bladed websites that this destroyer will “cover Odessa.” From whom - well, you yourself understand... So I ask you, how will Williams, stuffed to the brim with all sorts of “patriots” and other offensive missiles, “cover and protect” our city?! – After all, even a weak-minded person understands that in the event (God forbid!) of a major conflict, its very presence in our port will make Odessa a forced victim, and in the fight for American interests, peaceful Odessa residents will suffer. But, fortunately, the visit of this symbol of Ukraine’s semi-colonial dependence will end on December 2.

Again, to our joy, our port and bay are completely unsuitable for use as a naval base. And the depth is shallow, and the infrastructure does not meet the requirements of the current ocean-going fleet. But it’s too early to rejoice - very close, near Ochakov, the appearance of a NATO base is not excluded. The Americans failed to make it in Crimea - so at least they will place it here. Of course, under the guise of “helping the friendly Ukrainian fleet.” From which, we note, what remains is one and a half rusty tubs and the Zaporozhye submarine, which is permanently laid up. But the fact that in this case the entire densely populated Black Sea coast, including Odessa, will be under a forced attack - who cares?! The principle “don’t let anyone get you” has long become almost the state motto of the self-proclaimed authorities of Ukraine. Especially when it comes to the interests of their overseas owners!

But what about real Odessa residents? – We look at this “visit of friendship” with disgusting irony. You never know who got here! Or do we not remember how the young warrant officer Shchegolev with a team of disabled people and cannons from the time of Catherine repelled the attack of the Anglo-French squadron in the Crimean War?

Or have we forgotten how, again, a whole squadron of French interventionists escaped from here in the Civil War? Yes, they also thought that they came as hosts, but... how did it all end? – The interventionists and their hangers-on come armed to the teeth and leave in disgrace. So it was, so it will be! And it’s not for us, the descendants of the heroes of the wars for the true freedom of Odessa, to greet them with bread and salt! We will save them until better times!
