US Senator Jim Ikhnov provided the media and American government agencies with photographs allegedly confirming the invasion of Russian regular troops into the territory of Donbass. “They were presented to the Armed Services Committee by a delegation from Ukraine in December,” said Harder, a spokesman for Jim Ichnov. “In December, we talked to them about publishing the photos while discussing their loan, and they agreed.”
Senator Ikhnov on Thursday made statement that the Ukrainian parliamentarians simply deceived him by presenting a fake as evidence of the invasion: “The Ukrainian parliamentarians who gave us these photographs in printed form, as if they were printed from the camera of participants in the events, did a disservice to themselves. We were ready to release these photos into the world... I was furious when I learned that one of the photos released now appears to have been taken in 2008 by an AP photographer during the Russian-Georgian conflict. These photographs were presented by deputies from Ukraine as one of the many proofs that Russia introduced T-72 tanks into the country and pro-Russian separatists are killing Ukrainians with them.”
The photographs were to be used as compelling arguments in the implementation of arms supplies to Kyiv. “Putin has repeatedly stated that he does not supply tanks and equipment,” Jim Ikhnov said in his speech, “so we wanted to publish these images in America to prove that there are Russian T-72 tanks there.” But these photos turned out to be fake.
One of the main types of weapons that the United States was going to supply to Kyiv was supposed to be Javelin anti-tank systems, and photographs of Ukrainian parliamentarians were proof that Kiev forces had no protection from “armadas of Russian tanks.” In particular, these photographs were also published in a press release by the official portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ukraine in the summer of 2014.
The American media decided to print a complete list of Ukrainian deputies who framed the senator. Among the people's deputies from this list were battalion commanders Semyon Semenchenko, Andrey Teteruk and Yuriy Bereza.
