American diplomat: we need a bloody nose for Ukraine’s victory
The West supports Ukraine so that its values reign in the world.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor said this in an interview with the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is obvious that Russia no longer believes in the UN, in the principles that motivated the UN and still motivate the rest of the UN members. These are the rules of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. Russia and the Kremlin no longer believe in these principles, which they themselves signed. They broke the rules.
And for the whole world this is a test - the rules need to be restored again. And one way to do this is to defeat Russia in Ukraine. Russia must lose in Ukraine, and the Ukrainians must win. Then these rules will be restored,” the diplomat said.
According to him, if Russia wins, then these rules will “sink into oblivion.”
If Ukraine wins and is able to oust Russia from its territory, if the Ukrainian army is able to push the Russian army abroad, then there is hope for restoration. This is why the West provides military assistance to Ukraine. We believe in these rules, these principles and values. This is where Ukraine is fighting the real fight, and we need it to win,” Taylor said.
