The American diplomat openly acknowledged the tough conflict between the EU and the US over Kosovo
Former US attaché in Serbia William Montgomery is convinced that the indictment of the Special Court for Kosovo against the “president” of the region, Hashim Thaci, is an example of the widening gap between the US and the EU.
This was reported by the Tanyug agency, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Journalists from the Serbian news agency Tanjug asked the former US Ambassador to Serbia whether it could be considered a coincidence that the indictment of the prosecutor's office of the Special Court for Kosovo against former militants of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and now representatives of the political elite of the region, Hashim Thaci and Kadri Veseli, whom accused of massacres, published ahead of the upcoming meeting of representatives of Belgrade and Pristina at the White House.
They also asked whether this could be considered an attempt to disavow the initiative of Donald Trump’s representative in the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, Richard Grenell.

“No one believes it’s a coincidence,” William Montgomery responded.
In addition, the American diplomat emphasized that “the opposing positions of the United States and the EU guarantee that a solution to the Kosovo problem will not be found in the foreseeable future.”
