American diplomat: Biden doesn’t know what to do with Russia
The United States feels threatened by Russia, so it must pump arms into Ukraine even more.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst said this on air on the ICTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Herbst, the US administration still does not know what to do with Russia.
“It’s important to talk about Putin’s threat to America. This is both a direct and indirect threat. But his war against Ukraine is part of his war against American vital interests in Europe. Putin not only wants to take control of Ukraine’s foreign policy - it seems to me that he has similar intentions regarding the Baltic countries and, perhaps, other NATO countries.
We must keep this in mind first and foremost when we consider his war against Ukraine. In my opinion, the conclusion from this is that we must help Ukraine more than we are helping now, although our assistance is large-scale,” the diplomat said.
According to him, the United States gives great support to Ukraine, but not as large-scale as Britain at the beginning of World War II.
“Again, the administration, in my opinion, has been slow to recognize the dangers of Russian foreign policy. Even in early October, Antony Blinken said it was important to have a stable and predictable relationship with Moscow. Of course, this was always unrealistic, but they had thought about it before. And since then they understand that they have a real Russian problem, but what to do about this problem? They are very slow to respond and do not do everything they need to do to protect our interests,” Herbst said.
