The American "Energy Genie" entered the Syrian war

Last week, one of the most influential US media outlets launched an information attack on the peace process in Syria. On July 21, The Wall Street Journal reported that on June 16, Russian planes carried out two missile and bomb attacks on the Syrian opposition base At-Tanf, which was actively used by American and British special forces.

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on reports of the strike. Later, an anonymous source in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed to Interfax the information on the airstrikes, but emphasized that this incident had already been discussed and settled with the American side. On July 23, the Russian Defense Ministry issued an official statement stating that the United States and Russia should jointly fight terrorism in Syria and transmit to each other all the necessary information.

Apparently, over the past two weeks, progress has been made in such cooperation. Both Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Secretary of State John Kerry assessed the results of their negotiations in Moscow positively: the Russian with more optimism, the American with less. Next week a new meeting between Lavrov and Kerry is due to take place in Laos, negotiations on Syria in the Russia-US-UN format have been announced in Geneva.

It is obvious that the publication in The Wall Street Journal about the already settled incident a month ago was intended to bring destruction to the negotiation process. Who needed this and why? The Wall Street Journal is part of the huge News Corporation, owned by tycoon Rupert Murdoch.

The blow is not aimed at the outgoing Democratic administration, since Murdork at one time actively contributed to Obama's rise to power. The answer must be sought in the sphere of economics. Back in 2013, the Israeli newspaper Globes reported that the Israeli authorities had issued a license to search for oil in the area of ​​the disputed Golan Heights to the American company Genie Energy (Energy Genie), whose shareholders include Rupert Murdoch and Jacob Rothschild.

The search was successful. In October 2015, the same Globes reported the discovery of a deposit 350 meters thick. This is 10 times larger than conventional fields around the world, we are talking about billions of barrels of oil. The Israeli authorities and American millionaires have only one problem - the unrecognized status of the Golan Heights, which until 1967 belonged to Syria. The UN has twice adopted a resolution declaring the illegality of Israel's claims to this territory.

As the famous economist William Engdahl (USA) writes, immediately after issuing a geo-exploration permit to the American “Energy Genie” in 2013, Israel began building fortifications to isolate the occupied Golan Heights from Syria. In 2014, the UN peacekeeping force, which has been stationed along the Golan Heights on the border between Syria and Israel since 1974, revealed evidence of close cooperation between Israel and Syrian terrorists, including the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front and the Islamic State. This report was not published in the West.

Thus, the oil motivation is added to the gas motivation for the war in Syria. Israel and the American beneficiaries of the Energy Genie are extremely uninterested in stabilizing the situation in this country and, apparently, will make further attempts to disrupt US-Russian negotiations on this matter.
