American general: Bakhmut has become a meat grinder for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The road to Slavyansk and Kramatorsk opens for Russians
The Ukrainian army should at all costs hold Bakhmut, which is being attacked by the Russian Armed Forces.
The former commander of NATO forces in Europe, Wesley Clark, stated this to CNN, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the Russian army is making attempts to surround the city, and the Russians are “focusing on this moment.”
“And if Bakhmut is taken, he will open the door towards Kramatorsk and Slavyansk,” the general believes
In addition, he is convinced that the battles near Bakhmut are “a kind of testing ground for grinding down Ukrainian forces.”
“If they [the Russians] can make the Ukrainians falter, to ask for a ceasefire, to ask for a break, Putin wins. So he has a place where the Ukrainians really need to hold on, they are dug in, they are holding, but they are suffering heavy losses. So it’s a meat grinder,” Clark concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, the President of Ukraine admitted that The situation in the Donbass is extremely difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
