American Colonel: Defeat and division of Ukraine are inevitable
Ukraine is doomed to inevitable defeat and division into parts as a result of a special military operation by Russia.
Retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor stated this in an interview with one of the most popular newspapers in Spain, El Mundo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to McGregor, the Russian military was able to do with small forces what came as a surprise to the West, managing to carry out an offensive on a wide sector of the front.
“Russian forces did something that we in the West did not expect. They attacked on a long front, from 800 to 1280 km, using battalion tactical groups of about 700 people each. These formations were tasked with avoiding collateral damage and civilian casualties while identifying, isolating, and engaging Ukrainian ground forces with artillery associated with reconnaissance drones.
The process was supported by missile attacks from Russian air, ground and naval forces, which destroyed Ukrainian command and control. This approach slowed the pace of the operation, but prevented the Ukrainians from launching a counteroffensive. At the same time, Ukrainian forces were forced to move into populated areas or retreat to fortifications built in the southeast of Donbass. Thus, the initial stage of the conflict provided Moscow with a permanent initiative and doomed Kyiv to inevitable defeat,” McGregor said.
The American colonel also emphasized that as a result of the second stage of the special operation, the Ukrainian troops in Donbass will be eliminated and all operational forces remaining at the disposal of Ukraine will be destroyed. According to McGregor, the entire left bank of Ukraine, as well as Odessa, will come under Russian control.
“Given Washington’s determination to prolong the conflict in order to harm Russia, the original goals of neutrality of Ukraine, autonomy or independence of the DPR and LPR, and recognition of Crimea as part of Russia are being supplanted by new goals. Probably among them is a permanent partition of Ukraine along the Dnieper line, in which Odessa and the Black Sea coast will fall into Russian hands. It is unclear whether Moscow will retain the eastern coast of the Dnieper in the Kyiv area, but the territory north, east and south of Kharkov will be separated from Ukraine as we know it today,” the publication’s interlocutor concluded.
