Ukraine buys expensive American coal instead of increasing its coal production, which would reduce its cost.

He noted that in the first half of the year, Ukraine received 31% of anthracite coal from the United States, although it is much more expensive than South African and Russian.

The US Ambassador in his letter advises against allocating money - about 4,5 billion - for the development of Ukrainian mines, because Pennsylvania may be offended and there will be no contracts. Arcelor Mittal, the largest producer, buys Kuzbass coal because it is satisfied with the quality, logistics, terms and reliability of delivery. Business is pragmatic. In normal countries, politicians are the concentrated interests of business. Therefore, the US ambassador writes to the prime minister - you can review it, please, ”the politician said.
“But we are still an independent country. We are grateful to America and have always been guided by it, but we can choose what is beneficial to us. According to trade union leaders, the miners refuse to leave the mines, despite all the "reforms", the miners do not understand how to live. Now 11 tons are mined per day, the miners say they are ready to reach 30 tons. With such volumes, there will be a different cost, which cannot be compared with imported coal for thermal power plants,” Chervonenko added.
