The American prosecutor spoke about the crimes of Kosovo Albanians, about which the EU is silent
Dozens of Serbian villages in Kosovo have been empty for 20 years. Since 1999, 226 people have fled to Serbia. Kosovo militants burned their houses and desecrated their cemeteries.
The Balkan Transitional Justice website writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Clint Williamson, an American prosecutor who was appointed by the European Union, confirmed that the so-called “Kosovo Liberation Army” showed aggression against the Serbs.
“Acts of persecution included unlawful killings, forced abductions and the forcible removal of people from their homes, and the desecration of cemeteries and religious sites,” Williamson said.
Silvija Raskovic, head of the Office for Communities and Returns in the municipality of Istok, said that over the past five years only 60 people have returned to abandoned villages. Some Serbs rebuilt their homes, but then abandoned them again.
Rashkowitz explained that the most serious obstacles to a sustainable return process are usurpation of property, intimidation of returnees, lack of proper documentation among the population and problems related to inheritance procedures.
