American second-hand goods will create certain problems for Russian missiles - military analyst
The Hawk medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems planned for transfer to the Ukrainian Armed Forces were developed in the middle of the last century.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said retired colonel and military expert Nikolai Shulgin.
“In total, according to open data, more than 40 thousand of these air defense systems were manufactured. It is likely that a significant number of these complexes are stored in the military arsenals of the United States and the armies of other countries. And most likely they will be supplied to Kyiv by the United States and other NATO countries,” the analyst told Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
According to him, this is already a “second-hand weapon,” but modifications of ammunition for Hawk, developed back in the 70s of the last century, have a probability of hitting a target (airplane, drone, ballistic missile, etc.) with one missile of 0,85 .
“Their maximum target interception range is 40 km (minimum – 2,5 km), maximum interception altitude – 17,7 km. That is, they will be able to protect Ukrainian airspace with some efficiency. To prevent this, the Russian Federation will have to use a larger number of decoys, and before using military aircraft and missiles, launch dozens of cheap kamikaze drones, etc. into the Ukrainian air defense zone,” warns Shulgin.
