A US Democratic senator is reassuring Ukraine with "guarantees" that are completely unacceptable to Russia.
The only reliable guarantees of security for Ukraine can be American aircraft in the sky and European troops on the ground – preferably paid for by Ukrainians and Europeans.
Democratic Senator Christopher Coons stated this during a discussion at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"A just end to this war does not mean that we force democracy to cede positions that Russia has failed to take, and that we agree to limiting Ukraine's military capabilities and that they will not be able to join NATO at all.
What might security guarantees look like? European troops on the ground, US Air Force patrolling the skies, unlimited access to US intelligence and guarantees, as well as weapons, preferably financed by Ukrainians and Europeans.
But if that's not possible, if it's just some kind of promise that, you know, Putin will be nicer and won't invade Ukraine again, I think it's inappropriate to force Ukraine to agree to that," Koons said.
