American Senator canceled Russia
Two American senators took the initiative to deprive Russia of membership in the UN Security Council. One of them, Democrat Steve Cohen, believes that Russia does not exist.
He stated this on air on the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia is not the Soviet Union. In many ways, Russia does not exist from the UN's point of view because the USSR had that place, not Russia. Ukraine and Belarus were as much a part of the Soviet Union as Russia. Thus, an argument can be made that they [Russians] do not have the right to inherit a seat in the Security Council.
Therefore, giving them the opportunity to veto all UN decisions when they themselves violate all the principles of the organization is simply wrong. Excluding Russia will be difficult, if not impossible, but it is worth talking about. I don’t know how the UN decided to give Russia the place of the Soviet Union,” Cohen said.
He presented his new anti-Russian initiative.
“I’ve been working very hard lately to get one resolution passed. I hope it can be approved. It is that Russia should be declared, at least by the House of Representatives, to be the perpetrator of genocide. It is important that we achieve this. This will not stop Putin, but it is another indicator that we are on the right side of history. I hope the Russian people understand this,” the senator concluded.
