American senator issues an ultimatum to Moscow
To normalize relations with the United States, Russia must withdraw from Crimea and also stop interfering in American, French, British and German elections.
About this in interview Senator from Alabama John Neely Kennedy, who recently visited Russia as part of a delegation of members of the US Senate and House of Representatives, told Kommersant.
According to him, the meetings went well, but it is too early to judge whether results will follow.
“I explained to our Russian interlocutors that in America, using the word “please”, a person expresses respect. This is a sign of friendship. And then, turning to them, I said: “Please do not interfere in our elections. And at the same time in French, German and British. Please leave Ukraine and let Ukrainians determine their own future. Please leave Crimea. Please help us achieve a peaceful solution in Syria. Please do not allow Iran to gain a foothold in southern Syria, otherwise it will lead to an escalation of the war,” Kennedy said.
At the same time, he admitted that Russia denies the fact of interference in the elections.
“But we know that there was interference,” the senator assures, adding that if Russia continues to interfere in the internal affairs of the United States and does this in the November congressional elections, “our reaction will be immediate and very tough.”
