An American military expert told in Kyiv how and from where the Russians will attack Ukraine
Speaking at a press conference in Kiev, American expert in the field of security and defense Dr. Philip Karber, president of the Potomac Foundation, former adviser to the US Department of Defense on strategic development, spoke about the good and bad sides of a possible military confrontation between the Ukrainian and Russian armies.

“There are good and bad features of this army. For example, the development of new commanders is good. New commanders have a good understanding of the enemy’s weaknesses,” he said.
According to him, Ukraine has increased the number of active brigades from 15 to 22 and added four additional reserve brigades and has also raised a new generation of battle-hardened commanders.
The bad news, according to the American expert, is that the Russian armed forces deployed in close proximity to the Ukrainian border have a significant qualitative and quantitative advantage.
“Russian troops are approaching closer to the Ukrainian border. This creates a certain imbalance. This creates a threat to Ukraine and the preconditions for an unstable situation in Europe,” said Philippe Karber.
In addition, Ukraine cannot obtain spare parts for Soviet-style weapons, is unable to modernize its weapons, and has production rates that are too low to supply combat-damaged weapons. The latter circumstance is complicated by the American and European embargo on the supply of lethal weapons.
“The worst thing is the lack of weapons and military equipment. There is good human potential of commanders and soldiers who want to fight. But they are armed with old models of Soviet weapons. There are no spare parts - they are produced in Russia. And with Russia, as you know, there are no such ties,” said Philip Karber.
He also once again outlined possible options for the Russian army to attack Ukraine and showed a slide with possible directions of attack.
“These arrows on the map are not a product of my imagination. These shooters were already present during the Second World War. The Red Army advanced along these arrows. In 2014, a separatist car was stopped at a checkpoint (in Donbass), and documents from the Second World War were confiscated, which reflected the decisions of the commanders about the military operations of that time. You have to understand what’s really in their heads,” the expert said.
