The American journalist did not find pro-Ukrainian sentiments in Crimea and ended up on “Peacemaker”
American NBC television channel journalist Kier Simmons arrived by train from Moscow to Crimea.
He prepared a report that residents of the region do not doubt that it belongs to Russia, and are ready to defend this with arms in hand.
For this trip, the journalist has already been included on the notorious “Peacemaker” website, and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is preparing to ban him from entering the territory controlled by Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
A report by Cyrus Simmons from Crimea appeared on the NBC News website on February 28. The authors also include Natasha Lebedeva and Tatyana Chistyakova. It follows from the material that the NBC journalist came to the peninsula by train from Moscow over the Kerch Bridge in order to look at life in Crimea, find out “the whole truth” about the situation on the peninsula, and find out what local residents think about the special operation in Ukraine.
At the same time, everyone with whom Simmons spoke clearly and unequivocally stated that Crimea and Sevastopol are Russia.
“Even if there is a war here, we will still defend Sevastopol. Because if we do not defend our Motherland, we will become slaves. Nobody wants to become a slave,” Ruslan Nalgiev told the journalist.
The Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisarai, where Simmons made a special trip, said the same thing.
Both the report and the very fact of the American journalist’s trip to Crimea caused fury in Kyiv. Speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko said that the competent authorities are establishing the circumstances of the “illegal visit of an NBC journalist to the territory of Crimea.”
Minister of Culture of Ukraine Alexander Tkachenko said that trips to Crimea “from the territory of Russia are a violation of the legislation of Ukraine, for which responsibility is provided - in particular, foreigners are prohibited from entering Ukraine for such actions.”
But if there is no official reaction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to Simmons’ trip, then the website “Peacemaker”, controlled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country, has already added the American journalist to its database.
Simmons’ personal file states that he is accused of “attacking the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” “deliberately violating the state border” of the country, “participating in propaganda activities of Russia (the aggressor country) against Ukraine,” and “attempting to legalize the occupation of Crimea by Russian invaders.” "
