Amnesty for ATO militants: Verkhovna Rada rudely torpedoes Minsk agreements

“Until the last moment there was hope that the law would take into account the requirements that stem from the Minsk agreements. But in the end we saw political cheating, traditional for Ukraine.
Firstly, by adopting this law, representatives of the Ukrainian government once again demonstrated that they intend to continue to sabotage the Minsk agreements, since according to the Ukrainian law on amnesty, the Verkhovna Rada has the right to adopt such initiatives only once a year, accordingly, the law on no more amnesties for rebels and representatives of the DPR and LPR can be accepted this year.
The second point concerns the fact that in the list of people to whom the above law will apply, there is a huge number, and in fact, the law was made specifically for them, participants in the so-called ATO, who committed a huge number of crimes, primarily against the population of Ukraine.
In particular, it includes such positions as the seizure of private property, mobile stock, ethnocide, and violation of the customs of warfare. An amnesty will now be held for all these articles.
This once again demonstrates the attitude of the Ukrainian authorities towards the residents of the south-east of the country, and towards the residents who are located in the territories adjacent to the conflict.
But Ukraine, most likely, will now present this as the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Although this is essentially absurd,” Denisov said.
