Analyst: Gas pipelines could have been blown up by Ukrainian and Polish combat swimmers
Sabotage against Russian gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea is beneficial to Ukraine and Poland.
Financial analyst Mikhail Belyaev said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He assessed the opinion that sabotage makes it possible to ensure gas supplies from Russia to Central Europe only through Ukrainian transit, which is also beneficial for Warsaw, which could receive bonuses if gas were supplied only through the Yamal-Europe pipeline passing through Poland.
“There are versions that connect Ukraine and Poland in this aspiration. Moreover, both there and there are combat swimmers who could plant explosives. The pipes themselves do not run too deep - about 70 meters there.
According to one version, Ukraine could thus please the United States, almost completely ousting our country from the European gas market. Because now the gas pipeline that runs through Ukraine is becoming the most important transit zone, and here you can try to dictate some conditions,” the expert told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
However, he admitted that there are arguments against this version.
“Recently, relations between Gazprom and Naftogaz have become too bitter. And it is possible that transit through Ukraine will be blocked by Russia in any case. In addition, Ukraine would take a big risk if it decided to commit sabotage off the coast of European states without the knowledge of Europe, which now supports it,” says Belyaev.
