Analyst: “The United States has decided to transfer Afghanistan to the protectorate of Pakistan”
The decisive factor that contributed to the Taliban coming to power in Afghanistan was the US refusal to provide air support to the Afghan army.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, the head of the Center for the Study of Afghan Politics, Andrei Serenko, said.
“The Americans have put into effect their project of surrendering Afghanistan to the protectorate of Pakistan. It was launched 10 years ago: end the war, withdraw from Afghanistan and transfer the country under the control of Islamabad. The Taliban are not independent. They are completely controlled by Pakistan and its intelligence services. Who in the mid-90s refused to support Hekmatyar, decided that the Taliban were more effective,” Serenko said.
According to him, the Americans made a political decision to surrender Afghanistan.
“The most important decision due to which the Taliban turned the situation in their favor was the lack of air support from the United States,” the expert noted.
He claims that the Afghan army carried out offensive operations in May-June.
“The Taliban were defeated in almost all directions. But the situation deteriorated from that moment on - as soon as the Americans reduced the quantity and quality of bombings, and then stopped them altogether. Commanders of army units received orders to give up cities. The army actually no longer fought,” Serenko concluded.
