Analyst: The West is manipulating the situation around the collapse of the USSR
Due to NATO's active advance to the east, the Russian Federation now finds itself in a very difficult situation.
Inna Vetrenko, head of the department of management and social technologies at the North-Western Institute of RANEPA, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The United States and the European Union are very profitably using the situation associated with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. When it is in their interests to consider Russia the legal successor of the USSR, they appeal to treaties that were concluded during the existence of this state. As soon as something is unprofitable for them, like agreements with the Warsaw Pact countries, they say that they were concluded with a state that no longer exists, so everything is cancelled,” the expert told Izvestia.
According to her, due to the fact that with the collapse of the USSR the system of world order was broken, all five waves of NATO expansion turned out to be difficult for Russia.
“We are in a difficult situation now. And it is very correct that the president clearly said without hinting: we ask not to expand NATO to the east. This is an honest dialogue with an open visor. But we don't know what they will answer us. The ball is in their court, and we are waiting to see what the answer will be. After this happens, a lot will become clearer,” Vetrenko concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, the President of the Russian Federation said that NATO has plans to dismember Russia.
