St. Andrew's Church finally went to Bartholomew
Today, the law on the transfer of St. Andrew’s Church to the Ecumenical Patriarchate for use came into force, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On Friday, November 9, the law on the peculiarities of using St. Andrew’s Church of the National Reserve “Sofia of Kiev” was officially published in “Voice of Ukraine”.
“St. Andrew’s Church of the National Reserve “Sophia of Kiev”, which is an outstanding object of cultural heritage, an architectural monument of national importance, as a religious building in state ownership, is transferred to the free permanent use of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for worship, religious rites, ceremonies and processions”, - the law says.
It is indicated that the law comes into force on the day following the day of its publication - that is, November 10.
It is also noted that after the transfer, St. Andrew’s Church remains on the list of objects of immovable cultural heritage of the Sophia of Kiev National Reserve.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was instructed to ensure the transfer of St. Andrew's Church within a month.
On November 7, Petro Poroshenko signed a law on the transfer of St. Andrew’s Church in Kyiv to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
