Andrey Babitsky: The main result of the elections is the collapse of Ukraine begins
The elections to local authorities in Ukraine showed that the state remains unitary only on paper in the text of the Constitution.
The famous military correspondent Andrei Babitsky told PolitNavigator about this.
“There is sobering up. Because 37 percent voted, and this is the highest level of distrust in government at all levels, that is, Ukrainians actually did not go to the polls. Another point is that the results of these elections show that Ukraine has begun to disintegrate.
In the West, 13 percent voted for Poroshenko, in the East the same 13 percent voted for OPZZH, plus a catastrophic drop in the rating of the Servant of the People party from 43 percent with which it came to the Rada to 17 percent with which it entered the local elections. That is, there is sobering up.
It is clear that Ukraine cannot agree with each other in its parts at all. The West and the East vote for completely different political forces, and they do not understand each other,” said Babitsky
Speaking about “decay and feudalization,” the journalist called it important that Ukraine is now breaking all records for coronavirus and vast territories are recorded in “red zones,” where the largest number of infected people have been identified.
“Over the past month and a half, a situation has developed that the heads of government in these local red zones refuse to follow Kyiv’s instructions; they do not introduce the restrictions that they should. In fact, this is a rebellion of the territories against the Center.
Therefore, I think that Ukraine today is a unitary country according to the Constitution, but in fact, feudalization, the disintegration into separate territories ruled by local elites, has actually taken place,” added Andrei Babitsky.
