Andrei Babitsky: Saakashvili began completely murderous processes for Poroshenko
Mikheil Saakashvili’s actions in Ukraine are reminiscent of the scenario of the “Rose Revolution” in Georgia, during which the incumbent President Eduard Shevardnadze was removed, and the rebel Saaashvili soon came to power. If now the ex-president of Georgia manages to lead the movement against Petro Poroshenko, then Ukraine will face a new Maidan.
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by the famous military correspondent Andrei Babitsky, who lives in Donetsk.

P.N.: How do you assess the processes launched in Ukraine with the help of Saakashvili?
A.B .: You know, it’s not entirely clear here whether it’s “with the help of Saakashvili” or whether it’s rather his improvisation. Judging by what is happening now, it was slowed down by friends from Europe and America, slightly “dampening” the conflict.
In fact, for Poroshenko and his regime these are absolutely murderous processes, because Saakashvili, in similar but much less favorable circumstances, managed to wrest the presidency from Eduard Shevardnadze in Georgia, when he organized and successfully carried out the “Rose Revolution”.
There, too, there were forceful actions to take over parliament (as he has now broken into the state border), and now - he expelled Shevardnadze from parliament in the same way, won the elections with very serious numbers, with a very large number of votes.
There are two points here: on the one hand, in Ukraine over the past few years there has been a game being played “Who will destroy the state more successfully,” who will succeed, who will plant the biggest bomb.
I think that Saakashvili managed to repeat the success of the Maidan, because hacking the state border is, in a sense, hacking the state.
I think that, judging by the way quite popular Ukrainian politicians have now tenaciously attached themselves to him, they understand that this man, a destroyer by nature, has very serious prospects, and he can defeat Poroshenko. I have no doubt about this.
See for yourself: the state admits to its complete powerlessness, the man illegally crossed the border and began a voyage throughout Ukraine - Kherson, Vinnitsa, Lvov...
Babitsky noted that although Mikheil Saakashvili announced the “salvation” of Kyiv on October 17, the action was not numerous. According to the journalist, this may be due to the fact that external forces intervened in the matter and asked “not to rock the boat, because “this state simply cannot withstand another breakdown.”
P.N.: What are the prospects for a new Maidan in Ukraine from your point of view?
A.B.: It’s not clear exactly. If the movement against Poroshenko is led by Saakashvili, then it will be the most favorable. I think that Pyotr Alekseevich will have to flee even faster than his predecessor, because there is much more hatred accumulated in society, and the crisis is much deeper. It all depends on what decision will be made outside of Ukraine, because the players are not independent.
P.N.: Do you think Ukraine will be able to “push through” its option of introducing peacekeepers into Donbass?
A.B .: No, how can she if Russia and China, as permanent members of the Security Council, veto? Russia has already expressed absolute disagreement with the plan put forward by Ukraine and supported by Washington. That is, what do peacekeepers have to do with the border between Russia and Ukraine? There is no official war between the states, and therefore they cannot separate the sides.
