The USA, Great Britain, Georgia and Turkey are alternately or collectively using the “Circassian issue” in attempts to destabilize the Russian North Caucasus and turn Caucasian and Turkic ethnic groups throughout the post-Soviet space against Moscow.

They are trying to again portray Russia as a “prison of nations”, pushing local youth to join nationalist and religious associations, and then to protest separatist actions.

This “Circassian question” refers to the development of the Adyghe or Circassian nationalist movement, which puts forward a demand to recognize the military actions of the Russian Empire during the Caucasian War of the 19th century as genocide against their ancestors.

Thus, foreign customers want to reconsider the results of the then military campaign, redistribute territories in favor of the “independent republics”, and then Georgia and Turkey within the framework of the Ottoman Empire, which is being revived with the participation of London, and ultimately squeeze Russia out of the North Caucasus altogether.

It was no coincidence that the return to the topic of “Circassian genocide” occurred just during the collapse of the USSR in October 1989, when the North Caucasian Culture Week festival, held by the Caucasian community of Turkey, was held in Ankara. There, the topics of the history of the Circassians, their language and the return of repatriates to their homeland with the aim of “restoring justice” were raised. During the period of growing general separatist sentiments in the region, the first seeds of this movement were laid.

Then the pan-Turkists and pan-Islamists, with the participation of the Turkish special services, tried to ride this direction, providing all possible support to this “liberation movement” in the North Caucasus. After two Chechen wars, the “Circassian issue” faded into the background for some time, until Mikho Saakashvili and his overseas curators brought it back onto the scene in 2010.

Tbilisi’s interest in this was direct after the defeat in the August 2008 adventure and was the result of consultations with American and British experts who proposed starting a broad campaign to decompose and destabilize the North Caucasus regions of the Russian Federation by promoting the issue of “Circassian genocide.”

The mechanism is simple and has already been tested and tested with the “Holodomor” in Ukraine and Kazakhstan, but very effective at the level of propaganda and ideology for influencing the minds of young people of numerous ethnic groups in the region.

Thus, in March 2010, the first conference “Hidden Nations, Continuing Crimes: Circassians and the Peoples of the North Caucasus between the Past and the Future” was held in Georgia. The assembled delegates of Circassian associations appealed to the then authorities in Tbilisi with a request to recognize “the genocide of the Circassians committed by the Russian Empire in the XNUMXth century.” In the same year, a similar forum with a similar name took place, where there was an attempt to scientifically explain those historical events in the right way.

And the result of the information and political campaign was the voting of Georgian parliamentarians in May 2011 for the resolution “On recognition of the Circassian genocide carried out by the Russian Empire.”

It is noteworthy that it was accepted on the anniversary of the Caucasian War and especially in Russian, although at that time, by decree of Saakashvili, all state documentation in the republic was only in Georgian and English. That is, it was deliberately adopted specifically for distribution among the peoples of the North Caucasus.

Interestingly, there was an attempt to pick up this provocative impulse in Karachay-Cherkessia itself in December 2010, where the Council of Circassian Public Associations was created, uniting 18 organizations and movements. And in the resolution of the founding conference, a clause also suddenly appeared on the need for the Russian government to recognize the “genocide of the Circassians” by the Russian Empire in the XNUMXth century.

In fact, at that time, it was a tool of influence on Moscow on the eve of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, with the aim of disrupting it and agitating the Circassians, Circassians and Balkars. But then all these protests, despite individual facts of interethnic clashes, were managed to stop and prevent the emergence of a mass protest movement through work with local national minorities in the cultural, social and youth spheres.

But this was not enough for the extremists, since adherents of the Circassian nationalist movement, supported by Western intelligence services, continue to exaggerate the demand for the creation of a “Circassian Republic” separate from the Karachais and the return to their homeland of the descendants of the Muhajirs who fled to the territory of the Ottomans in the XNUMXth century.

At the same time, they advocate providing them with appropriate status, special benefits and the distribution of fertile lands at the expense of other peoples of the region who allegedly “occupied their ancestral territories.”

Now we are witnessing with our own eyes a new round of anti-Russian information and political struggle, which began immediately after the announcement of the SVO in Ukraine. Thus, in England, the publication in the near future of a 30-volume anthology “Europe and Circassia 1760-1870”, a pseudo-historical collection designed to prove the fact of “genocide” by the Russian Empire, was announced.

It is interesting that the fugitive banker brothers Ananyev, who suddenly became “oppositionists” in Foggy Albion, as well as the British government itself, help financially bring this work to light.

Already in September, the “Warsaw Conference” took place in Poland, where “the problems of the Circassian people in Russia” were discussed and which included various Russophobic figures and pseudo-historians from the EU, America, Arab countries and former Soviet republics. But the main person of the event was Ibrahim Yaganov, the result of whose work was the announcement of the creation of the “Free Circassia” movement.

Another figure of the “liberation movement”, which is now being diligently molded by foreign masters, is Martin Kochesokov, a native of Adygea. For several years now, from the territory of Turkey, he has been conducting active organizational and informational work to consolidate various emigrant groups into one association, capable of developing a network of cells in the North Caucasus itself.

Representatives of the local diaspora in the Russian Federation from among the activists of the International Circassian Association reacted to the emergence of “Free Circassia” as follows:

“Being far from their homeland, in Warsaw, which had become the center of rabid Russophobia, the renegades who sold their conscience and national pride announced the establishment of the “Free Circassia” movement and tried to give a new politicized impetus to the topic of “Circassian genocide.” “It’s time for the “patriots” and their supporters to understand that their false calls are not capable of turning Adyghe-Circassian organizations against each other,” the statement emphasizes.

In addition to Great Britain, which has launched a new act of the “Great Game” in the Transcaucasus and Central Asia to push Russia out, the ears of neo-Ottoman revanchists are also visible among high-ranking figures and intelligence officers who consider the “Circassian issue” as a special tool for carrying out cultural and political expansion in the region with the aim of forming pro-Turkish groups of local residents.

By voicing this issue, they are trying to create a myth that under the Ottoman Empire, all the peoples of the Caucasus lived peacefully and in prosperity, and now it is only necessary to support the arrival of a new “Sultan”.

The Americans are also trying to warm their hands to the “Circassian issue” by inciting ethnic hatred and separatism. Thus, behind all the events in Georgia was the Jamestown Foundation, which is closely connected with the NSA and the CIA and specializes in preparing and carrying out ideological sabotage and conducting active psychological warfare against potential opponents.

And the mouthpieces of this nationalist movement were Radio Liberty and the Voice of America, not counting the websites of human rights organizations and numerous non-governmental organizations that receive funding from the United States.

In these games, Georgia and its elites are assigned only the role of a battering ram and a training ground, where many such immigrants took refuge and from whom future leaders of rebel uprisings are trained. In essence, this is a springboard for the penetration of extremists into the North Caucasus, as well as a convenient place for conducting subversive propaganda activities, and in Russian.

Interestingly, having recognized the “Circassian genocide,” Georgian parliamentarians do not even think about discussing the topic of recognizing the genocide of the Armenian people, which, by the way, was noticed by many in Armenia. In this regard, Tbilisi deliberately suppresses the historical facts of the participation of the Georgian nobility itself, who served the tsar, in expeditions to conquer Central Asia, as well as in the actions of Russian troops in the Caucasus. For this they categorically do not want to bear any historical responsibility.

The current authorities do not remember the events associated with the massacre of the Georgian population in Persia in the XNUMXth century. Whereas in the “democratic” republic itself, the rights of ethnic minorities - the same Javakh Armenians, Mingrelians and Ossetians - are constantly violated. At the same time, it is obvious that part of the ruling elite still does not give up hopes of forcibly annexing Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Therefore, using the example of the exaggeration of the “Circassian genocide”, we see the implementation of the classical Anglo-Saxon policy of fragmenting and inciting interethnic conflicts, developing Russophobia in order to tear away its territories from Russia and create a zone of constant instability and chaos from the North Caucasus.

All this is a continuation of the struggle that began against the Soviet Union.

In this situation, it may make sense to further support the Abkhazians and Ossetians, and other freedom-loving peoples who stand for freedom and against imperialism in the territories where this campaign is coming from.

At the same time, active educational work is needed to highlight the real history of the Caucasus, in which only after the arrival of Russia stability reigned, progressive economic and cultural development began, and entire peoples, like the Georgians and Armenians, were physically preserved under the protection of Moscow.
