The publication informs that the parties are currently settling formalities, and a representative of the Kurds familiar with the situation said that this plan had not previously been realized “due to some technical problems,” while, he assured, “there were no obstacles from the Russian side.” "

According to the newspaper, further steps in this direction can be discussed tomorrow at the Russian Foreign Ministry, where consultations are planned with the leaders of the Democratic Union party, which is one of the leading political forces in Syrian Kurdistan, who arrived in Moscow. From the Kurdish side, co-chairman of the PYD Asiya Abdullah will take part in the negotiations.

True, Kommersant’s sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry have not yet confirmed the information, but the Turkish diplomatic department made it clear that “Ankara, with which Moscow is already divided by severe contradictions on the Syrian issue, will categorically oppose the very idea of opening an autonomy office on the territory of the Russian Federation "

In addition, Turkish Ambassador to the Russian Federation Umit Yardim announced last week that Ankara is concerned about the possibility of cooperation “between individual states and the Syrian Kurds” and added: “We are discussing this issue not only with Russia. If support is provided to the Kurds, including from the United States, Turkey will respond without delay.”

“The Syrian Kurds accused Ankara of openly supporting the Islamic radicals fighting in Syria,” the publication continues. “This is how they explained the reluctance of the Turkish authorities to support the armed forces of the autonomy during the most fierce battles with the terrorist group ISIS, as well as the units fighting in Syria under the banner of al-Qaeda.” This was the case during the months-long IS siege of the Kurdish city of Kobani, located in close proximity to the Syrian-Turkish border.”

In turn, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov earlier recalled that “neither Russia nor the UN Security Council considers either the PKK or the PYD to be terrorist organizations,” and called the Syrian Kurds, in particular the PYD, representatives of the Syrian opposition with whom the Russian authorities intend conduct dialogue as part of efforts to resolve the situation in this part of Syria.

The authorized representative of the PYD in Russia, Ali Muhammad Abd Salam, told the newspaper that the Russian side has not yet discussed with the Syrian Kurds the prospects for their joining the anti-terrorist coalition.

“We support any Russian actions to combat the Islamic State, but it would be better if they were also aimed at al-Qaeda divisions - Ahrar al-Sham and Jabhat al-Nusra: for us they pose the same threat ”, said the PDS representative.
