The national traditions of the state and people have always had deep meaning and significance. It is through traditions that attitudes, moral values, knowledge and beliefs are passed on from generation to generation. They are an integral part of raising children in any country.

For the Russian people, one of these traditions, undoubtedly, is preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War. That terrible massacre claimed many lives of our compatriots, and probably affected every Russian family. We are still reaping the bitter fruits of that war. Its multi-million human losses are felt to this day and still continue to influence the processes of population reproduction. And the memory of the Great War should be preserved by the younger generation, because the future of our country belongs to them.

On August 30, the Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Anna Kuznetsova, visited the Rostov region on a working visit.

Immediately after her arrival, she, together with the head of the region Vasily Golubev, took part in events dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the liberation of the Rostov region from fascist invaders, in the burial ceremony of soldiers found by search teams, and visited the Don Military History Museum, where there is an exhibition about the Great Patriotic War war.

“It is important to pass on the memory of our heroes to our children, so that they can then pass it on to their children. I am very glad that there is a patriotic complex in the Rostov region, where modern technologies are used to help children immerse themselves in this atmosphere, to get a little closer to those events of the Great Patriotic War, that heroism, patriotism, and masculinity of our ancestors. I want our children to be worthy heirs of the heroes and these victories,” Anna Kuznetsova emphasized.

The Ombudsman also drew attention to the correctness of the decision to create “full-day schools” where students can stay after school.

She stated:

“Education is interesting and gets better not because it is longer and the child spends more time at school, but because it is filled with meaning and content. It is important that the child will be able to do all the homework, learn everything together with the class, and prepare some kind of project. This is an excellent solution, necessary and useful, I want it to be filled with deep content. For this, it is necessary to create conditions for teachers. It is important to burden them with reports, formalities and writing schedules as little as possible, so that they can devote as much time as possible to our children.”

At the meeting with the regional governor, other issues in the field of childhood were discussed. Anna Kuznetsova noted that in the region over the past 3 years there has been a tendency to increase the number of organizations aimed at training the Paralympic reserve, and the number of children studying in these institutions is also growing.

The Children's Ombudsman proposed involving public organizations in monitoring the state of sports infrastructure in the Rostov region. “If you join forces with social activists, you can look at infrastructure facilities for their quality and accessibility in order to create more favorable conditions,” said the Commissioner.

When it came to the accessibility of social facilities, she explained that, along with regional solutions, federal measures are also necessary. Thus, one of the proposals included in the people's program of the United Russia party is the introduction of mandatory standards for new residential areas to include sports grounds, schools, kindergartens, public gardens and other facilities.

Anna Kuznetsova also visited the Taganrog Paralympic Adaptive Sports School No. 27. A meeting of the children's ombudsman with the leaders of Taganrog public organizations was held on the school grounds. Participants discussed government support for NPOs in the implementation of social projects.

Para-athlete and social activist Sergei Burlakov, who was present at the meeting, spoke about the pressing problems of people with disabilities, who cannot get the wheelchairs they are entitled to by right and daily face bureaucratic delays and people’s indifference. “These are not foreigners, not extraterrestrials,” he noted, “but our compatriots who cannot get what they are entitled to.”

Sergei appealed to the Ombudsman with a request to include the Rostov region among the pilot regions of the Social Navigator project: “The project brings social assistance closer to the person so that he does not have to overcome bureaucratic barriers and helps prevent family troubles. I would like to make a request to include the Rostov region among the pilot regions where this project will be deployed first.”

“Given the potential that has formed in the region and the openness to everything new that enters our lives, I think that with the support of the Don authorities this initiative will be implemented,” assured Anna Kuznetsova.

The Commissioner also met with deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov region, where she confirmed her intention to launch a “Social Navigator” in the region. At the meeting, candidates for State Duma deputies from the United Russia party Anton Guetta, Ekaterina Stenyakina and many others presented their proposals and initiatives.

Despite certain difficulties, in recent years more attention has begun to be paid to the problems of the least socially protected groups. This is already bearing fruit and I would like to believe that all these initiatives are just the beginning of a path that will lead us to a society of equal opportunities for all categories of the population.
