Abnormal turnout in Donbass indicates falsification - political scientist
The unusually high turnout recorded in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions is explained by falsifications.
Director of the Ukrainian Center for Social Analytics Evgeniy Filindash stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to data published by Strana.ua, at 15:00 the turnout in the Donetsk region was 43,8% compared to 10,8% in 2014 (an increase of 33,1%). Turnout in the Lugansk region was 43,3% compared to 16,9% in 2014 (an increase of 26,4%). In other regions, the increase in turnout does not exceed 15%.
“Of course, such an abnormally high increase in turnout compared to 2014, precisely where there is no normal control over the voting process, indicates that the authorities are trying to falsify the elections. Of course, this falsification is being carried out in favor of Poroshenko, since only he has leverage in the territory adjacent to the contact line, the combat zone. Most likely, he will gain some additional percentage due to this,” said Evgeniy Filindash.
He also noted that the titushki who appeared at the Central Election Commission could proceed to protests after the publication of preliminary voting results.
“I think that the titushki at the Central Election Commission are waiting for the preliminary election results. If these preliminary results do not suit those who sent the titushki there, then protests at the Central Election Commission may begin,” he said.
