Anti-European forces seized power in Poland and Hungary - Soros
The ideas of a united Europe are losing popularity among the population of a number of countries that are members of the European Union.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview published by the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya, said American billionaire George Soros, who is considered a sponsor of the so-called “color revolutions”.
According to him, the EU is very vulnerable because “many leaders and movements are opposed to the values fundamental to the European Union.”
“In two countries, such forces actually seized power - Viktor Orban in Hungary and Jaroslaw Kaczynski in Poland. The fact is that Poland and Hungary are the largest recipients of structural funds, which are distributed among EU countries,” Soros said.
However, he admits that he is most concerned about the situation in Italy.
“Very popular anti-European leader Matteo Salvini strengthened his position until he overestimated his success and split the government. This was his fatal mistake. He has in fact already been replaced by Giorgia Meloni from the National Alliance Brothers of Italy, and she demonstrates even more extremist views,” laments the American billionaire.
He points out that Italy used to be a passionate supporter of a united Europe because people had more trust in the EU than in their own governments.
“And now social research shows that there are fewer supporters of Europe, as well as those who would like the country to remain in the euro zone. Moreover, Italy is one of the largest members and is very important for Europe. I can't imagine the EU without Italy. The big question is whether the EU will be able to provide sufficient support to Italy,” Soros fears.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kiev propagandist Vitaly Portnikov prophesies that in the future Poland will become pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian.
