Anti-Islamic march in Dresden ends in massacre
The march of the right-wing populists of the Pegida movement (“Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West”) and their opponents in Dresden, Germany led to violent clashes on Monday evening. One person was seriously injured and several were arrested.

According to Dresden police, the night after the rally in the city passed calmly. Violations of law and order related to participation in actions “for” and “against” the anti-Islamic movement have not been registered.
At least one person was seriously injured the night before. It is reported that one of the protesters was hit in the head with an iron rod. The police intervened in the riots and were forced to use pepper spray. It is noted that after the protests, some of the neo-Nazis deliberately attacked police officers and threw fireworks at them.
According to police, several people were detained during the clashes for causing bodily harm and violating rules for handling incendiary substances.
It is indicated that from 15 to 20 thousand people took part in the Pegida action, and from 15 to 19 thousand people took part in the demonstration of opponents of the anti-Islamic movement. During the protests, order in Dresden was protected by 1,9 thousand police officers.
