Anti-Russian sanctions suddenly turned into anti-European ones
Sanctions against Russia turned out to be ineffective and hit their initiators harder.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that this was stated by member of the Bavarian Land Parliament (Landtag) Ulrich Singer, who visited the Russian elections as an observer, answering the question of how effective the EU sanctions policy turned out to be.
“I visit Russia about once a year. It is clear that Russia and the Russian population have adapted to the sanctions policy. The shops are full. Market shares given away by Western companies were quickly captured by other countries. In general, Germany seems to be suffering more from the measures introduced than Russia,” the politician said in an interview with Izvestia.
According to him, it is necessary to “put an end to the senseless policy of sanctions.”
“The sanctions are unexpectedly strong against us. These turned out to be sanctions against Europe. Now the Russian market has begun to look more at China and less at Europe. Of course this is bad for us.
Germany and the European Union have lost a profitable trading partner due to sanctions. We could buy cheap gas from Russia, due to which our production could develop well. And now we still buy gas, but at a higher price. In Russia they can buy cheap cars and spare parts - for example, in China,” summed up Singer.
