Western anti-Russian sanctions turned out to be useless
The West, introducing more and more new sanctions against Russia, is based on an absolutely false premise. Political scientist Gleb Pavlovsky stated this on the Ekho Moskvy radio.

“Western sanctions policy is based on a childhood story. They imagine all this upside down: as if there is a great and powerful terrible Putin who controls everything, and around him billionaires are trembling in fear. We need to squeeze them, and they will overthrow Putin,” said Pavlovsky.
He believes that Russian oligarchs, despite all the dangers, are not in the mood to abandon the “Russian ship.”
“This ship is not safe, but it is a powerful nuclear aircraft carrier. There is a brilliant pirate economy here that will last as long as the global economy exists in its current disordered form. We are very good at using even the sanctions regime as a reason to get rid of some international obligations. It is known that they continue to trade with us in circumvention of sanctions, and this is not about cheese. The turbines became a demonstration of disagreement,” Pavlovsky said, referring to the recent supply of turbines from the German company Siemens to Crimea, which is under sanctions.
The political scientist called Russia “a powerful market for unconventional technologies in the modern world.”
“He is very successful and will continue to be successful. We took a very risky dive into the Middle East, and we are already there. Then you can, relying on fears and local agents, infiltrate. Sooner or later we will overthrow some government in this region, raise oil prices and sell it. Pirate is good. How did the British economy grow in its time?” Pavlovsky said.
