Appetites are growing: Albanians demanded four seats in the Serbian government with an ultimatum
The delegation of the Albanian Democratic Alternative - United Valley coalition, consolidating the Albanians of Serbia, held a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in an ultimatum tone demanding that he take a place in the country’s leadership.
This was announced by a participant in the meeting, the Albanian mayor of Serbian Presevo Shchirim Arifi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today we conveyed to President Vučić the position of the Albanians of the Presevo Valley (an area in southwestern Serbia with a high percentage of Albanian population – Ed.), Arifi wrote on his Facebook page. “If he wants to show the world how European his people are, then now is the time to prove it.” And no more words are needed.
In order for us Albanians to become part of the government, our conditions are as follows: the Minister of Local Government, the Assistant Minister of Economy, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, the Chairman of the Coordination Body (the Government of Serbia for the issues of Presevo, Medveja and Bujanovac, which are part of the Presevo Valley - Ed.). Waiting for an answer!".
Meeting between Aleksandar Vucic and the delegation of Albanian parties from the Presevo Valley.
The coalition of Albanian parties and movements “Albanian Democratic Alternative – United Valley” was specially formed to participate in the parliamentary and local elections in Serbia held in June under the active supervision of the head of the Albanian Foreign Ministry, a native of Kosovo, Gent Cakaj.
It is not yet known what kind of response President Vučić will give to the demands of the Albanians, but many experts noted that representatives of this community are not allowed to put forward ultimatums to the head of state.
