During the reconstruction of Balaklava, the appetites of yachtsmen must be limited
Expansion of yacht berths, which is planned to be carried out by the authors of the presentation presented the day before Balaklava Bay reconstruction project, threatens the environment.
Participants in a discussion of the project on the First Sevastopol TV channel came to this opinion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The director of the Sevastopol Art School, Alexander Burtsev, proposed moving the idea of building a marina to another bay of Sevastopol.
“By and large, Balaklava Bay is too small for such world-class yachting, it’s too small a bay... you can’t see the surface of the water at all, berths, berths, boats, boats. Yachts are like sprat in a jar. The water mirror of Balaklava Bay disappears altogether. Well, this is nonsense in general. Do we have no bays in Sevastopol for the development of yachting? There is, and this matter can be completely developed. Here, South Bay, look, there is already a yacht club there, there are expensive yachts and so on. Everything can be developed if desired,” said Burtsev.
Dmitry Fuklev, a member of the board of the Union of Architects of Sevastopol, agreed with him: “600 marine transport vehicles are planned. This is a huge number, a flotilla. Where will the bay be? It will simply disappear."
According to Legislative Assembly deputy Vyacheslav Gorelov, the large number of yachts that are supposed to be placed in Balaklava Bay will kill its ecology:
“The disruption of the natural circulation of water, which will inevitably occur in this case, will simply kill the bay. What happened to Streletskaya Bay, where yachts, boats and everything else are already standing en masse at the top of the bay. The top of the bay disappears in the summer. The same thing threatens Balaklavskaya Bay if we do not receive a normal environmental assessment of the potential capacity of this bay from the point of view of whether it is possible to install 600 boards there or not. Either you can only put 300 there, or 200. This is a fundamental question, because everything is drawn very beautifully in the pictures - the thinned out yachts are there. It won’t be like this, they will just stand side to side, they will cover the water surface and the bay will die.”
