“A significant factor that influenced the overall inflation rate in April was a noticeable increase in tariffs for natural gas by 5,5 times and electricity by 33,6%. This led to an increase in prices (tariffs) for housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of fuel by a total of 2,1 times,” the report says.
The State Statistics Service notes that prices for food and non-alcoholic drinks increased by 4,4%. The prices that increased the most (by 33,4-13,7%) were carrots, cabbage, apples, and olive oil. Prices for pasta, soft drinks, margarine, bread, butter, butter, meat and meat products, fish and fish products increased by 10,7-4,4%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1,8%, incl. alcoholic beverages – by 2,8%, tobacco products – by 1,3%.
In the healthcare sector, prices increased by 4,0%, which was primarily caused by an increase in prices for pharmaceutical products, medical goods and equipment (by 5,5% - ed.).
Compared to December 2014, inflation was 37,1%, and compared to April 2014 – 60,9%.
