Arakhamia was tasked with explaining what will happen next with Saakashvili
The Servant of the People party allegedly has enough votes in parliament to appoint ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili to the post of Deputy Prime Minister. But Vladimir Zelensky suddenly came up with a new position for him.
The head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The rumors are false, there are enough votes (to appoint Mikheil Saakashvili as minister - editor's note), but over the last few days he has had lengthy consultations with the president, and they have found a different format in which they will work.
This is a new position, I can’t tell you, because this is the initiative of the president, let it remain an intrigue,” the Georgians let the fog out.
Arakhamia refused to divulge any details, but stressed that no final decision has been made yet.
“We have votes, and if Mikheil Saakashvili and the president now decide that he needs to be appointed deputy prime minister, we now have enough votes to make this decision. But, according to my information, there will be another decision, and the president has already worked it out with Mr. Mikhail, and this will be announced, perhaps a little later, and perhaps at the beginning of next week.
The position of Deputy Prime Minister did not work out. It’s just that when we started consulting, we found out what the expectations were on both sides, and decided that there was a format that would ensure success in these reforms,” the servant added.
