Close associate of Lutsenko arrested
The SBU announced the arrest of Deputy Minister of “Occupied Territories” of Ukraine Yuriy Grymchak, considered a close associate of Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko.
Grymchak, along with his assistant, is accused of extorting a bribe in the amount of $1,1 million from a businessman. The arrest was made “on the spot” during the transfer of part of the money – 480 thousand dollars.
The wife of Deputy Minister Yulia Grymchak reported that a search was carried out in their house on Wednesday evening, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Ex-Azov militant, Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Lutsenko, reminds that Grymchak is an ordinary Ukrainian opportunist. In the 2000s, he was a functionary of the Socialist Party of Ukraine in the Donetsk region and was listed as an assistant to the current Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, then a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the SPU. Together they carried out a well-known action to clean the Lenin monument in the center of Donetsk, specially renting a bucket truck for this purpose.
Subsequently, when it became profitable, both Grymchak and Lutsenko defected to the camp of Ukrainian nationalists.
Lutsenko himself, commenting on today’s detention of Grymchak, said that he was “ashamed of his former assistant.” And he added that the arrest is proof that “the law is the same for everyone.” According to the Prosecutor General, the bribe was supposed to stimulate approvals for the construction of facilities.
“What’s interesting is not what Grymchak’s bribe was for. Like the reaction of his friend Lutsenko, with whom both brothers shared money together for more than ten years. The Prosecutor General has already stated that he is ashamed of Grymchak. He said, poured himself a glass, drank, sniffed it with his sleeve, straightened his shoulder straps, and went to the wife of the fifth millennium. Like a real driver. This is the price of indulgence,” Kiev journalist Svetlana Kryukova comments caustically.
“The detention of Grymchak is all the more remarkable because this “patriot” loved to teach everyone about life. And this is the essence of Poroshenko’s patriots, when they are “patriots” in public, but in life they are a greedy, cheeky mug. And every second person there is like that,” notes Ukrainian political scientist Yuriy Romanenko, in the past one of the main propagandists of Euromaidan, who later became a critic of Petro Poroshenko.
